Jamamucito, San José de las Matas — July 25, 2025High in the mountains of the Dominican Sierra, the community of Jamamucito witnessed a historic and deeply emotional moment: the grand inauguration of the Morán Espinal family’s new home. A long-awaited dream that, thanks to the union of many generous hearts, has now become a reality.
This project, documented in the docuseries "Roots of Hope" on the Juan de Dios en la Tierra channel, was made possible thanks to the Rincón de Piedras Unidos Foundation, Inc. of New York (www.RincondePiedrasUnidos.org), along with a network of sponsors, volunteers, and our audience who have supported every step of the journey.

More Than Bricks and Cement
“This house is not just bricks and cement — it is a reminder that these girls are valued for who they are,” said Juan de Dios Collado, creator of the channel and president of the organization. From the very beginning of the docuseries, the family demonstrated gratitude, patience, and unshakable faith, trusting that their time would come.
The family, made up of Luis Manuel Morán, Yoselin Espinal, and their daughters Geila, Jailin, and Yosmairy, received the house designed by Venezuelan architect Andrés Balza and built under the supervision of master builder Zacarías Espinal.
But the project goes beyond the walls: the patio was designed and supervised by Juan de Dios Collado with an eco-friendly water management system to capture and filter rainwater from both the roof and natural land runoff. Through infiltration ditches and percolation wells, the design not only prevents dampness and mud around the home but also aims to recharge underground aquifers and increase the flow of nearby streams and the Jamamú River. Applied on a national scale, this method could help combat the Dominican Republic’s water crisis.

A Day to Remember
The day was filled with special moments:
The arrival of guests from various places, including Francis Díaz, creator of La Vida del Campo RD, accompanied by Lilo, Suleica, and Maritza from the channels La Vida del Campo RD and Cocinando en el Campo.
The official ribbon cutting, house blessing, and a guided tour through every room.
Special recognition to sponsors such as Joselito Collado, Pedro José Collado, Nicio Vargas (Mi Tierra RD Cargo Express), Rafa Reyes, David Rodríguez (refrigerator), Theany Estevez (stove), and Nardo Rodríguez (raffle contribution).
Unique aerial shots from our beloved drone “Lolo”, piloted by Francis Díaz, capturing both the emotion of the moment and the beauty of the Sierra.
